JUTRION DC Surge Protective Device for Solar PV Systems

JUTRION DC Surge Protective Device is specially designed for solar photovoltaic systems. It is used for surge protection on the PV DC side and provides lightning and overvoltage protection.

Surge Protection Applications in Solar Photovoltaic Systems

In rooftop PV systems, ground-mounted PV power plants, and commercial solar projects, when a surge voltage occurs, the DC SPD can respond quickly and safely discharge the surge current to the grounding system. It is usually installed in PV combiner boxes, inverter DC input terminals, and DC distribution cabinets.

Key Features

  1. The product uses high-energy MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) technology, with a response time of < 25ns.
  2. Available in 600V, 1000V, 1500V, and 2000V DC configurations to meet different voltage application requirements.
  3. Standard 35mm DIN rail mounting design allows quick installation in PV combiner boxes and inverter enclosures.
  4. Designed to operate safely under extreme temperature conditions from -40°C to +70°C. The housing uses UL94 V-0 flame-retardant material, with an IP20 protection rating.

FAQs

Q: How is a DC surge protective device installed and wired?

A: A DC SPD is usually connected in parallel between PV+, PV-, and PE on the PV DC side.

Q: What is the main function of a PV DC surge protective device?

A: It is installed in combiner boxes or on the inverter DC side to absorb lightning surges and switching overvoltages, helping protect PV modules and inverters and reduce the risk of damage.

Q: How does a DC surge protective device protect the circuit?

A: Under normal conditions, PV+ and PV- supply power normally, and the SPD does not operate. When the voltage suddenly rises, the SPD quickly becomes conductive. The surge current is discharged through the SPD to the PE grounding system. As a result, the overvoltage received by downstream inverters, combiner boxes, and DC equipment is reduced.
